Profile Goals (Looking For)

Introducing Profile Goals - a new feature designed to help you define what you're looking for and what you're interested in. By setting goals, you can give other citizens a clear idea of what you're seeking and gain more control over your online interactions.

To set your profile goals, go to the Profile Editor and select the edit option next to the Goals (or “Looking for”) section.

When you set your profile goals, they will be displayed on your profile for others to see. Your goals are also used for the reverse match filter, and will also work with upcoming features that will give you more control over your profile's discoverability and the types of contacts you engage with.

Having well-defined profile goals will be important for successful interactions on the platform. We strongly recommend setting your profile goals now if you haven't already done so.

Your goals can be broad or specific, depending on your preferences. However, it's worth noting that very specific goals may limit interactions and the number of citizens who discover your profile. On the other hand, broad goals may result in more exposure but may attract contacts that you're not interested in. We suggest starting with a broad selection of your preferences and then adjusting them over time until you find the right balance.

As you set your goals, we may provide advice if we detect any potential issues with your selections. This advice is only a recommendation, and you can choose to ignore it and continue with your selections if you wish. However, keep in mind that incorrect matches may result when other users search for profiles similar to yours and match against a conflicting selection.

For those who are not interested in making contacts, you can choose to opt-out from setting goals on your profile. This option is intended for users who are just browsing or keeping in touch with old friends and are not interested in making new connections. If you opt-out, a notice will be displayed on your profile indicating that you're not interested in making connections, and your profile will be excluded from future search results.
